How this list works

The 15 entries below are an editorial selection, not an official ranking. They are grouped by area so that you can combine two or three in one day: the mountains to the north and east, the desert parks and museums, the south, and Downtown. Seasonal limits and closures are noted with each entry.

Tucson is hot from June to September. Plan trails and cave tours for the morning, keep water with you, and leave museums for the afternoon. Hours and prices are those published for 2026 and can change, so check the current schedule before you go.

A good day combines the Desert Museum in the morning with the west district of Saguaro National Park. Another option is Sabino Canyon in the morning and Mission San Xavier in the late afternoon.

What is free in Tucson?

Sun Tran buses and the Sun Link streetcar currently charge $0. The tours at Mission San Xavier are free with a voluntary donation. Sabino Canyon has a vehicle fee, and the shuttle is paid separately.

Which sights need a reservation?

The underground tour at the Titan Missile Museum needs an online reservation. Kartchner Caverns strongly recommends booking ahead, and the Sabino Canyon shuttle recommends it too. The Biosphere 2 ticket is bought for a date, not a time.
